La Biznaga Cartonera is an independent publishing project that uses cardboard as the main material to make books. We are part of an alternative community based literature production international movement, known as editoriales cartoneras in Latin America, and often are referred to as ‘cardboard publishers’, because the main feature that identifies these diverse publishing projects is the material from which books are made: reutilized cardboard. This kind of projects lies at the intersection of social movements, artistic exploration and community inclusion methods. We are based on the northwest Mexico-USA border, in a small town that is mainly known becauses of the drugs cartels and narcos violence. We focus in publishing up and coming local authors.
